Dear SBPWA members

Thank you for your support. I am honoured to serve as SBPWA's President for 2010-2011. I am mindful that many accomplished women have held this position before me and have achieved much in the association's nearly 40-year history.

When I joined the association in 2004, it was at a friend's request to help with the development of the Programmes committee. I agreed to join the association as I felt there were networking opportunities and possibly a chance to contribute my skills.

As I stayed on at SBPWA holding various Exco positions, I realized besides the given networking opportunities, the chance to contribute and learn new skills was more more fulfilling to me. As Programmes Chair, secretary, vice president and now president, I now have the opportunity to learn a skill that is akin to running a company.

During my membership with SBPWA, I have made many friends, learnt from their experiences and stories and I value the easy camaraderie amongst us ladies.

I hope to build on what my predecessors have accomplished and I'm ever mindful that SBPWA is nearing its 40th birthday in 2012, making it one of the oldest women's organisations in Singapore. This is a milestone achievement that symbolises the relevance of our association.

Together with the Exco team and our members, I hope to continue to build on the legacy of the association for the benefit of our members.

You would have seen already initiatives to expand our networking platforms by collaborating with other organsations. There are also plans to update our website and expand our publicity efforts.

In continuuing our time honoured tradition of supporting the advancement of women, we continue to raise funds for our Fellowship Awards which are given out to needy female tertiary students annually.

I count on your support to help me serve all our members in meeting their expectations as well as building on the legacy of SBPWA.
