Walking in the Footsteps of our Foremothers

  • 10 Nov 2018
  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (CST)

The story of women in Singapore dates back as far as the 1800s with the establishment of one the first girl’s school by an Australian missionary Sophia Blackmore with a class of only nine girls. Many more women have gone on to make history in Singapore and this heritage walk has been developed to commemorate the contributions.

Participants will learn about the rich history of each landmark along the route and how each of the women highlighted have been instrumental in shaping Singapore’s history. They are leaders in their own right – from social workers, to diplomats, to doctors, to performers to law makers. From changing laws to protecting women, to educating children, to breaking down barriers in the male – dominated arena – these women have made their mark.

This walk will help participants ‘relive’ the steps of these inspiring women who left their historical footprint on the island of Singapore. Come join us!
